Latest details about the 2012 Audi Q3

Three years ago, Audi Q5 made its world premiere at the Beijing at Auto China 2008. The unveiling of the two compact SUVs allowed Chinese consumers to understand what was coming there way. In a couple of days, Audi will choose China yet again as the stage for its world premier of the 2012 Audi Q3.

Audi’s new compact crossover is said to weight in at 3,300 lbs, which shouldn’t be a problem for the three powertrains that will be offered. That includes a 140-horsepower, 2.0-litre TDI as well as two versions of the 2.0 TSFI gas engine, producing 170 and 211 hp. A 177-hp version of the TDI will also appear eventually. Exactly which powertrains will be green-lighted for the North America market remains to be confirmed, but we could easily expect one TDI and one TFSI.

The Q3 offers an impressive array of optional toys for its size, including LED ambient lighting, adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, a panoramic glass roof, heated seats, keyless entry and ignition, and a variety of sound systems, topping out at the MMI navigation system with Bluetooth. All Q3s can be specified with Audi Drive Select, which lets drivers choose from multiple settings for the steering, engine, and transmission response. It also includes a new efficiency mode, which tweaks air-conditioner and cruise-control operation to maximize fuel savings.
