Audi Q1 : New details Released

Many of you folks already know about the Audi A1 (article in french), the S1 and the A1 Cabrio. Well, today we found out that the A1 family will receive a new member, the Audi Q1 or the Allroad version of the A1. The 4x4 version of the A1 will offer light off-road capabilities.

The German soft-roader will also be offered with two-wheel-drive. However, the vehicle’s 4x4 incarnation won’t borrow an AWD system from inside the “classic: brands of the VW Group. Instead, it will come with the 4x4 system used by the Suzuki SX4.

Audi wants to offer a solid look to the upcoming vehicle, but the company won’t rely on the usual plastic protection elements to achieve this as it also wants the car to have a premium image. This means that we can expect to see some ingenious design solutions.

The Audi Q1 is expected to come with an important set of technical modifications. This means that the car will bring a reinforced suspension and will have a higher ground clearance. Under the bonnet of the new model, we’ll be able to find gasoline engines with a power rating of between 86 and 160 hp and TDI diesel powerplants that will offer between 105 and 140 hp.

The Audi Q1 is expected to come to the market in 2013.
